A shaped card for Create a Smile

A shaped card in the form of a wreath for Create a Smile.

My cards tend to be rectangular or square. I rarely make shaped cards, but they are actually really fun to create. The theme of the latest challenge at Create a Smile is shaped cards, so I went through my stash of products and decided to make a wreath using the beautiful leaves from the Time to say thanks stamp set.

I embossed some of the leaves in yellow, aqua and pink on Lawn Fawn’s “Mermaid” and Simon Says Stamp’s “Banana” and “Cotton Candy” cardstock. I also embossed in pink and gold on matching vellum from the “DIY Party”pad by We R Memory Keepers and on a thicker 40LB vellum by Bazzill.

Then I glued some of the leaves, to the donut shaped card panel that I cut by hand, with doble sided tape and others with foam dots. I placed most of them in uneven numbers; 5 pink leaves, 5 aqua-colored leaves, 3 large gold leaves, and so on.

The sentiment, from the Clear Wrap it Up stamp set is gold embossed on a DIY vellum banner. Just take a long strip of vellum and score it twice on each edge, then fold them in Z shapes and finally cut the fishtails.

Here’s one more picture of my colorful shaped card (my last project with a summer palette for this year) and here’s a link to another card in which I used leaves and vellum. I hope that you head on to the Create a Smile blog and check out what my design team mates and guest designers made and join us for a chance to win a gift certificate of 25€ to the online store.
