Hi there! After a couple of weeks without posts, I’m back with a card featuring a beautiful sunset, for the Weekly Sketch Challenge at My Favorite Things.
This week’s sketch is quite detailed and it immediately made me think of a sunset, so I grabbed some Distress Oxide Inks and a stencil and went to work…

I lightly inked my panel with “Abandoned Coral”, “Spiced Marmalade” and “Fossilized Amber”. Then I used the Ray of Light Stencil to ink my panel for a second time. To get rid of any harsh lines, I inked the panel for a third time, without the stencil. Lastly I added some water droplets to get a distressed look.

To create the water, I used “Faded Jeans”, “Broken China” and “Peeled Paint” Oxide Inks. Once the panel was dry, I die cut a couple of strips using the waves die from the Pop-Up Wiper Card Components Die-namics.

I heat embossed the sentiment, from the Greetings & Salutations stamp set, on a vellum banner cut with one of the dies from the Skinny Strips Die-namics. I also added a little dolphin from the super cute BB Friends with Fins set. Since there is a bit of backlighting going on with the sunset, I colored it in darker grays…
As a final touch, I added some Clear Round Drops, which go perfectly with the water theme. I can’t wait to see how the sketch inspires you! Join us for a chance to win a $50 gift voucher to the online store.
