A Hippo Birthday card for Color Challenge 122

Hippo Birthday card for MFT.

Hello! I’m back with a Birthday card featuring a cute little hippo for Color Challenge 122.  This week’s combo is: Wild Wisteria, Coral Crush, Persimmon and Cement Gray.

Color challenge 122 palette.

I started by stamping the monstera leaves from the BB Sunshine & Friendship stamp set in Coral Crush Premium Dye Ink on a Coral Crush Prestige Card Stock cardbase.

Next I stamped the hippo from the BB Happy Hippos in Extreme Black Hybrid Ink and used the following Copic markers to color it: C5, C3, C2, C00, R24, R22, R20, BV02, BV01 and BV00. I also added some texture with Prismacolor pencils. I then die cut it using the largest heart from the Stitched Heart STAX Die-namics and popped it up with some foam tape.

For the sentiment I cut three fishtail banners in Wild Wisteria, Black Licorice and Persimmon card stock, using one of the dies from the Skinny Strips Die-namics. Well, I actually didn’t have the Persimmon card stock so I just colored a white strip with R24…

Then I heat embossed a couple of the sentiments from the Bitty Birthday Wishes stamp set in white and adhered them with Thin 3D Foam Squares in a cluster.

As a last touch, I added three enamel hearts in matching colors. I would never have used this type of color combination on my own, but I must admit that I do like the result…
