Cozy one layer card for Day 4

Cozy one layer card for Day 4 of the MFT November Release Countdown.

Hello! The MFT November Release Countdown launched yesterday and I’m joining in today with a really simple one layer card featuring Stacy Yakula’s Cozy Companions.

Sometimes it’s just fun to simplify and focus on the coloring… I started by stamping the scene with Extreme Black Hybrid Ink, with the help of some masking paper. I then used a strip of washitape to very lightly blend the background with Cement Gray Premium Dye Ink for the walls and Kraft Premium Dye Ink for the floor.

Next, I colored the scene with Copic markers and added some details and shading with Prismacolor pencils. I googled “sitting by the fireplace” to get some references for the coloring, but ended up relying mostly on my instinct.

For the sentiment, I chose a phrase from the Sweater Weather on Safari stamp set, but it would have been fun to add a “Happy retirement” instead. Every now and then I get asked to create one of those cards so it’s nice to have them in my stash.

I’m quite pleased with this simple one layer card, but I must say that the textures of the stamp set (the detail on the sweater and stool) really helped with the coloring and to set the mood. By the way, if you’re interested, HERE’s another recent clean and simple card that I made.
