Interactive card with playful pups for Day 5

Interactive card with playful pups for Day 5 of the MFT June Release Countdown.

Yay, it’s time to begin the MFT June Release Countdown! It’s packed with awesome products and today I’m sharing an interactive card with playful pups, that I created with the BB Woof Pack and BB Cat-astrophe stamp and die sets.

I noticed that two of the pups had the potential to be interactive, so I stamped them twice and fussy cut them, separating the head from the body (in the first case) and the leg from the body (in the second case). But before I tell you more about the card, let’s check it out in action:

As you can see, when we pull the pull tab, the dog to the left rotates its head and the dog to the right scratches itself.

To create the mechanism, I used the Twist & Turn Interactive Die-namics, which is so easy to assemble. But instead of using the 1/2″ circles from the set, I cut the holes in my panel with a 1/4″ circle punch. The reason being that the head might have covered a 1/2″ hole, but not the skinny leg.

Since I couldn’t use the donut pieces from the set, to adhere the rotating elements to the mechanism, I used 1/4″ thick foam dots instead. I punched small 1/8″ holes in the center of them and they were ready to go. If you’re interested, HERE’s a tutorial for two cards using the Twist & Turn Interactive Die-namics.

I also stamped and diecut a bunch of the objects from both stamp sets, to create a really messy background. After coloring them with my Copic markers, I wasn’t happy with the white borders around the images, so I colored them with a brown marker, to match the patterned paper from the Woodgrain Whimsy Paper Pad.

For my sentiment, I heat embossed the funny phrase from the BB Cat-astrophe stamp set in white on two handcut banners of Berrylicious Card Stock. That’s it from me for today… Head on to the MFT Blog for more inspiration and info! I’ll be back tomorrow with another card.
