Card with space shuttle for WSC498

Card with space shuttle for WSC498.

It seems like ages since I last posted on my blog, but it was only seven days ago! This week’s sketch (WSC498), at the MFT Blog, made me think of a moon in space. Of course, I had to add a space shuttle, die cut with the Blast Off Die-namics, to complete the scene.

I started by die cutting a circle with the fifth largest die from the A2 Stitched Circle STAX Die-namics out of masking paper and adhered the rest of the mask to my 4 1/8″ x 5 5/8″ panel, so that I could ink the moon. For that, I used Antique Linen, Weathered Wood and Pumice Stone Distress Ink.

Next, I covered the moon with the circle mask and put a little bit of tape on the stitched line, so that it wouldn’t show after ink blending the sky with Faded Jeans, Chipped Saphire and Broken China Distress Ink.

After that, I heat embossed one of the sentiments from the Best Friends in the Universe stamp set in white, on a strip of Translucent Vellum and adhered it to my card panel.

Die cutting and assembling the space shuttle, was a blast! I used the following colors of MFT card stock for it; Smooth White, Steel Grey, Red Hot, Tangy Orange, Orange Zest and  Pineapple. To give the illusion of metal, I inked the grey parts with silver pigment ink. I drew the reflection in the window with Copic markers and a white gel pen. The same one that I used to draw the stars.

That’s it from me for today! I hope I’ve inspired you to participate in this fun challenge, at the MFT Blog. You might be the lucky winner of a $50 voucher to the MFT Boutique.
