Hi again! We’ve reached the middle of the MFT August Release Countdown and I’m sharing a card with a cute watercolor scene.
It’s been so long since I used real watercolor and I was feeling a bit rusty, but I like to challenge myself so I went for it… I started by stamping all of the elements from Stacey Yakula’s Happy Campers set on an A2 panel of Ken Oliver Watercolor Paper, with Extreme Black Hybrid Ink.
I also heat embossed the sentiment from the same stamp set with clear embossing powder. I really should have used white powder instead, because later the text turned light green and I had to cover it with a strip of Translucent Vellum…
Then I adhered ripped strips of blue tape around the edges and started coloring the scene with my Windsor & Newton watercolors. Although I didn’t use a lot of water and I added some details and shading with my Prismacolor pencils, I’m still quite happy with the result. The grain of the paper and the irregular borders really add to the overall watercolor scene feel.
As a last touch, I added some stars with a white gel pen and a drop of Glossy Accents to the fox’s nose. I can’t wait to see what my teammates made for today, but I’m betting there are a bunch of cute camping scenes in store for us on the MFT Blog. Thank you so much for stopping by! See you tomorrow!
