Card with otters for WSC512

Card with otters for WSC512 at the MFT Blog.

Hi there! I created a card with an underwater scene featuring the cute otters from the BB Otterly Love You stamp set, for Weekly Sketch Challenge #512, at the MFT Blog.

The adorable set has been in my stash for ages, but I had never used it until now. It was a lot of fun to color the otters, although my brown markers are in a desperate need of refilling! Luckily, I was able to discuise  any flaws with my Prismacolor pencils.

I started out by stamping all of the elements onto an A2 card panel of Copic friendly card stock, according to the sketch. The clownfish and turtle are from the BB Mermazing stamp set. Then I covered the images with masking paper and masked off the lower part with blue tape.

Next, I inked the ground with Antique Linen and Scattered Straw Distress Inks. After that, I peeled off the tape and used it to keep the Wave Maker Stencil in place. I then lightly inked the water with Tumbled Glass and Broken China. Finally, I applied Tumbled Glass all over my panel.

I forgot to mention that I heat embossed the sentiment in white, before doing all of my ink blending. An ink blended panel, always looks better if you trim the edges, which tend to be more saturated with ink. I did just that with the largest die from the A2 Stitched Rectangle STAX Set 1 Die-namics.

The last step was to adhere my panel to an 8 3/4″ x 5 5/8″ (22,2cm x 14,3cm) card base of Smooth White Card Stock and to add some Clear Round Drops. I hope you liked this card and feel inspired to participate in WSC512. You could win a $50 gift voucher to the MFT Boutique!
