Hello, there! It’s time for my monthly video tutorial at the MFT YouTube channel. This time I created an orbiting space shuttle card that I hope you’ll enjoy.
Last week, I made THIS space themed card for the MFT November Card Kit Release. I was inspired to use the earth globe, from the I Miss Your Hugs stamp set again, to create an interactive card. Let’s check it out in action in the video clip below, before going into more detail.
As you can see, the main feature of this card is the orbiting miniature space shuttle from the Best Friends in the Universe set. I stamped it on two different kinds of shrink plastic, die cut the images with the matching die and colored them with Prismacolor pencils. Then I blasted them with my heat gun and in a couple of minutes, they shrank to about half of their original size.
I did all of this, because the original image didn’t fit on my A2 card panel. In the tutorial, I also mention two ways of creating the simple volvelle mechanism. They both have their pros and cons…
To give the globe some more dimension and shading, I stamped it with four colors of pigment ink. Then I die cut it and added some facial features from the Straight-Up Rainbow Die-namics. I didn’t like the way the white die cut border looked against the dark background, so I colored it with a black marker. I did that with the other planets as well.
The sentiment, from the same set, was heat embossed directly onto the card panel, die cut with the largest die from the A2 Stitched Rectangle STAX Set 1 Die-namics.
That’s all that I have for you today. I hope you’ll check out my tutorial. Have a great day!
