The MFT January Release Countdown continues with Day 4 and I’m sharing a CAS card with hearts and cuddly koalas.
I started by die cutting the two hearts in an A2 panel of Smooth White Card Stock. For this I used the Heart Rays Die-namics and one of the dies from the Slimline Slide-In Die-namics.
Next, I used the panel with the two windows as a template, to place and stamp the sweet koalas from the Koala-ty Time set directly onto my top fold card base.
I masked the images with masking paper and used Distress Oxide Inks (Tumbled Glass, Broken China, Bundled Sage and Evergreen Bough) to do some ink blending. I hadn’t done this in a while and it turned out a little bit dark for my taste, but I went with it anyway…
After the ink was dry, I peeled off the masks and colored the koalas with Copic markers and Prismacolor pencils. Next time I use these cute guys, I think I’m going to do some no-line coloring to make them look really fuzzy and cuddly. Like Santa’s beard on THIS card.
The two windows weren’t enough to “fill” the card, so I added a die cut heart with an image of a tree branch. I popped it up with some foam adhesive. I also added a banner, die cut out of Black Licorice Prestige Card Stock, with a heat embossed sentiment from the Koala-ty Time set. As a last touch, I adhered some matching enamel dots and that’s it.
