Card with interior scene for CC157

Card with interior scene for CC157.

Hi there! For this week’s Color Challenge (CC157) at the MFT Blog, I created a card with a cute interior scene and a beautiful color combination.

The idea

The first idea that I had was to use a word die to create a bold sentiment with a shadow effect.

Then I went through a box of left over elements from previous projects to  see if there was anything that I could use. I grabbed two die cut kitties from the Mini Meows stamp set and a 8 3/4″ x 5 6/8″ cardbase of Kraft Card Stock and went to work…

The painting

The cats made me think of friendship, or love and I decided to create a little painting with the frame from the Trendy Tag Die-namics. I die cut it once out of Milk Chocolate Prestige Card Stock and once out of Summer Splash Card Stock, backed with Stick-It adhesive.

Next, I die cut a strip of grass out of Tropical Teal Prestige Card Stock and trimmed it with the frame die from before. When assembling my “painting”, I wasn’t convinced by the white border around the cats, so I fussy cut them. This meant that I had to chop their whiskers. To make the cats whole again, I stamped them with Extreme Black Hybrid Ink on the background and adhered the fussy cut, colored ones on top.

The wallpaper

For the wallpaper, I chose the gorgeous Baccarat Background. I stamped it with Milk Chocolate Premium Dye Ink on Kraft Card Stock and trimmed the panel with the largest die from the A2 Stitched Rectangle STAX Set 1 Die-namics. Thanks to the pattern, it was really easy to adhere all of the elements perfectly straight.

The sentiment

I loved the “Meow and You Forever” sentiment from the Mini Meows stamp set and decided to partially emboss it on a strip of Tropical Teal Prestige Card Stock. To complete the phrase, I die cut the word “forever” out of Smooth White Card Stock using the Bitty Banner Alphabet Die-namics.

To finish the card, I added some matching enamel dots. I placed them forming two overlapping triangles. That way the eye is drawn to the painting as well as to the sentiment. I hope my interior scene card has inspired you to participate in CC157. Can’t wait to see what you come up with!
