Interactive weather themed card for Day 2

Interactive weather themed card for Day 2 of the MFT February Card Kit Release Countdown.

Hi there! Today we’re kicking off the MFT February “Weather with You” Card Kit Release Countdown. I’ve made a fun interactive rain shaker card.

It’s been a while since I made one of these but it went so perfectly with the card kit’s theme. So I grabbed the Falling from the Clouds Frame Die-namics, some Smooth White and Sno Cone card stock, rainbow colored beads, clear thread and a needle and went to work… HERE you can watch a tutorial on how to create it and HERE you can read the related blog post. Before I continue, let’s check it out in action:

Isn’t that a cool effect? The only thing that I did differently this time was, that I added a piece of acetate to the window. This makes the card sturdier and allows you to adhere die cuts or embellishments to it.

In order to draw attention to the sentiment and cute images from the Weather with You stamp set, I kept the panel clean and simple. I used Extreme Black Hybrid Ink for all of the stamping and a combination of Copic markers and Prismacolor pencils for the coloring.

The animal to the left is a Panda, but I colored it like a raccoon. That way I could repeat the colors for the snail and form a visual triangle, whose base is parallel to the sentiment. This works because all three critters were colored using the same gray markers; W5, W3 and W1.

Before I leave, let’s have a closer look at the Weather with You Card Kit:

You can read all about it at the MFT Blog as well as check out some gorgeous projects by the DT. Tomorrow I’ll be back with another weather themed card. Until then! Thanks for stopping by!
