Halloween box card for MFT

Halloween box card for My Favorite Things.

Howdy! Today I’m sharing a fun Halloween box card with cute ghosts for the August Outside the Box Challenge at the MFT Blog.

I made it simple with no ink blending, shading or splattering but tweaked some of the elements like the sentiment. It originally says “Happy Birthday” and is from the Box Card Greetings Die-namics. I used the “o” from the “Hello Beautiful” sentiment (from the same set) to spell out “Happy Booday” instead. To make the sentiment sturdy I layered Black Licorice Prestige and Silver Shine card stock.

The structure of the box card was also slightly altered since I used the partial die cutting technique to make it taller. I also used the fourth smallest die from the A2 Circle STAX Die-namics to die cut the moon, which I then backed with Heavyweight Translucent Vellum.

In hindsight I wish I had made it more realistic, like in THIS interactive Halloween card, but the cat ghost from the BB Fab-BOO-lous Friends set still looks cute against it.

To create the grass I went with the Outside the Box Grassy Hills Die-namics and Tropical Teal Prestige Card Stock.  I added all four strips of grass so that I could adhere the Jack-o’-lanterns and ghosts to them.

Although my Halloween box card is 5 3/8″ (13,6cm) tall, it still fits inside of a 5 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ (14cm x 14cm) square envelope.

That’s it for today! I hope you join in the fun and make your own Halloween themed box card. You could be the lucky winner of a $50 gift voucher to the MFT Store.
