Card with Christmas lights for Day 2

Card with Christmas lights for Day 2 of the MFT September Card Kit Release Countdown.

Hello! It’s time to begin the MFT September Card Kit Release Countdown. For Day 2, I made a simple interactive light up card with the gorgeous Christmas Lights Die-namics.

First, let’s have a look at the complete Merry & Bright Card Kit! It’s packed with goodies, like you can see below…

I love the size of the lightbulbs! They’re small enough to fit (a bunch of them) on a standard A2 card, but big enough to allow you to work with the negative shape, like I did. Check out my card in action in the animated gif below:

I started by die cutting a panel of Smooth White Card Stock with the second largest die from the A2 Stitched Rectangle STAX Set 1 Die-namics and all three Christmas lights. Next, I stamped the “Let’s Get Lit” sentiment, which is exclusive to the kit, in the middle, with Extreme Black Hybrid Ink.

In the left upper corner I stamped the instructions from the Interactive Labels set in Cement Gray Premium Dye Ink. After adding a piece of Heavyweight Translucent Vellum behind the Christmas lights, I die cut the rest of the elements, and finished decorating my panel.

Now it was time to create the light up mechanism, which is a piece of cake with the EZ-Light units! So that the lightbulbs would shine in different colors, I added pieces of Limelight, Summer Splash and Ripe Raspberry card stock behind the vellum (with two layers of foam tape in between).

To add a pop of color to the card, I glued a piece of patterned paper from the colorful Very Merry Paper Pad to my A2 card base, before adhering the panel to it.

That’s it for today, thanks for stopping by! Before you leave, you might want to check out THIS other recent light up card. I’ll be back tomorrow with more projects featuring the Merry & Bright Card Kit.
