Yay, I was finally able to use the beautiful Serene Snowflakes stamp set for a card! A very long and narrow one, that I created for the November Hits & Highlights feature at the MFT Blog.
“Hits & Highlights this month is all about bringing the feel of winter to your holiday with a cool palette featuring blues, pinks, and purples — bring a little shiver of delight with wintry colors evocative of falling snow and twinkling lights.” It was so beautifully expressed, that I had to copy this text directly from the blog.
I’ve made almost enough Christmas cards to cover my needs this year, but I’m running out of envelopes… So I decided that I would adapt my final ones to the funny sized envelopes that I do have in my stash.
This one was 4 3/8″ wide and 8 11/16″ long (11,1cm x 22cm) so I worked with the following card measurements:
- Cardbase: 8 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ (21,6cm x 21,6cm)
- Panel: 4″ x 8 1/4″ (10,2cm x 21cm)
The awesome Rachel from the DT, frequently works with a similar size horizontally, to create amazing scenes with a bunch of critters. This time, the dimensions of the panel allowed me to use all of the snowflake stamps repeated times.
I clear embossed them onto the panel and then I did some light ink blending with Victorian Velvet, Seedless Preserves and Spun Sugar Distress inks. For the sentiment I went with the gorgeous Merry & Bright Die-namics, that I diecut twice out of Scor-Tape backed Kraft Card Stock and once out of Gold Shine Card Stock.
I stacked the layers and adhered them to the panel, on a tangle of gold thread. It looks beautiful in real life, but it was oh so difficult to capture on camera. As a final touch, I added gold enamel drops and pink gems to the center of some of the snowflakes.
