Tarjeta escalofriante con las EZ-Lights de Pearblossom Press

Tarjeta interactiva escalofriante para MFT.

Esta entrada está también disponible en: English

Lo siento, todavía no he podido traducir la entrada. Hiya! I’m so excited to share with you this spooky Halloween card that I made for the MFT Blog with the awesome EZ-Lights by Pearblossom Press.

It’s my first ever card using LED lights and I was surprised at how easy they were to use! The name totally does them justice. But before I get into detail, let me show you the card in action:

The brave little girl is walking through an abandoned house in search of a treasure, when she hears a sound and turns around… not realizing that it was the spooky painting behind her that moaned! Eeek!

All of the elements used for scary card with EZ-Lights.

Elements needed for the spooky Halloween card

Here are all of the elements that I used for the card. Starting from left to right;

  1. My main panel of Copic friendly cardstock that measures 4 1/4″ x 6″ (10,8cm x 15,2cm) with the girl from the BB Adorable Adventures set.
  2. A piece of patterned paper from the Happy Trails Paper Pad that I ripped and distressed with Kraft and Steel Grey Premium Dye Inks.
  3. A picture frame die cut out of Kraft Card Stock with one of the dies from the Trendy Tag Die-namics.
  4. A piece of Heavyweight Translucent Vellum with one of the images from the BB Old Friends stamp set.
  5. Pre-wired all-in-one unit of EZ-Lights with three LED lights
  6. Piece of Black Licorice Prestige Card Stock with three holes made with a 1/16″ long reach punch
  7. A piece of red vellum (totally optional, but it gives a redish glow to the lights)

Making of the spooky card

After finishing my main panel (I drew the wood planks by hand and used both Copic markers and Prismacolor pencils to color them), I adhered the picture frame to the center of it. Then I grabbed a craft knife and cut a rectangular window in my panel.

  1. Next, I adhered my vellum painting to the back of the panel with Scor-Tape. I also punched a 3/8″hole for the little button, although it isn’t really necessary. You could press through a layer of card stock and it would still work. Under the hole, I stamped the words «press» and «here» from the Interactive Labels set.
  2. I adhered the piece of black card stock (with the three holes and the red vellum) behind the painting and attached the EZ-Lights unit with a couple of layers of Scor-Tape. I used the same tape to keep the wires in place.
  3. Before I glued my panel to the 9″ x 6 1/4″ (30cm x 15,9cm) black cardbase, I added a foam square to the purple button. Then I adhered the circle, that I had previously punched out, on top.
  4. Finally, after testing the lights, I added a couple of layers of foam tape to the back of the panel and adhered it to the cardbase.

The final details

The sentiment is from the Hey Ghoul Die-namics and the little spider from the Boo Crew stamp set. I also drew a little spider web in the right corner of my card, although it would have probably looked better in white.

It’s always a risk to add these types of final touches (that you can’t undo), once your card is ready, but I just had to… and luckily  it turned out OK. ^_^

Here’s a final close up of the painting itself… Doesn’t the man look scary with those glowing eyes and mouth? My kids love to play with this card, so the battery is probably going to be dead by the time I send it to someone, LOL. Thank you so much for your visit.
