Card with paper piecing for Day 1

Card with paper piecing for Day 1 of the MFT April Release Countdown.

Hello! I’m back to share a sweet card with paper piecing for the last Countdown Day before the MFT April Release goes live.

It features the sleepy girl from the PI I Need Some Me & You Time stamp set and four types of patterned paper. I started by stamping her (and the sentiment) with Extreme Black Hybrid Ink on a panel of Copic friendly card stock, cut with one of the dies from the Stitched Rectangle Scallop Frames Die-namics. I used the same die to cut a frame out of Ripe Raspberry Card Stock.

After that, I colored the head, arms and slippers with Copic markers. Next, I partially stamped her mask, pillow and legs on pieces of patterned paper from the following paper pads: Poppin’ Polka Dots, Colorful Canvas and Pretty in Plaid (which I also used for my second panel). I added double sided adhesive sheets to the back of these elements and fussy cut them.

It was so much fun to do the paper piecing! After carefully adhering the patterned paper, I added some light shading to seamlessly match my coloring. I even used a BG13 Copic marker to darken the pajama bottoms a little bit.

To give the slippers a fun touch, I glued mini pompons to them. The matching enamel hearts also add sweetness to the card.

That’s it for today! For more inspiration from the DT, check out the MFT Blog and YouTube channel! HERE you’ll find more cards of mine with paper piecing.
