Two quick and easy stencil cards for Day 2

Quick and easy stencil cards for Day 2.

Hello! Today I’m stopping by to show you a couple of quick cards that I created for Day 2 of the MFT November Release Countdown, with the Pine Tree Forest Stencil.

Day 2 MFT Countdown

Actually, I’m quite a slow crafter, so the cards weren’t that quick… But compared to other techniques, using a stencil is a breeze. And there are so many different ways of doing it; regular ink blending, tone on tone, ombré effect, using texture pastes or embossing powders, etc.

It’s been raining almost non stop for a couple of weeks, so I had to take the pictures indoors. I had the hardest time, editing the color balance on my pictures to get it just right… The panel of the card to the left is actually white, although it looks more like a cream color

For the first card, I used a sponge dauber and three different colors of Premium Dye Ink; Kraft, Gumdrop Green and Sour Apple, to make the trees pop. I taped my pencil to a 6″ x 6″panel of card stock with strips of washitape, so that it wouldn’t move and started by inking all of the tree trunks with the kraft colored ink

Then I went in with the Gumdrop Green and a piece of scratch paper to cover each trunk, while I lightly inked just the middle part of each tree. Finally, I used the Sour Apple to ink just the tips.

I diecut the word “Believe” in Stick-It backed Kraft Card Stock and gold. Then I layered the diecuts to make the sentiment stand out from the background a little bit more. I also added a Skinny Strip in Jellybean Green with one of the phrases from the Bitty Holiday Wishes stamp set. As a final touch I added a couple of mini gold stars, diecut with the Starry Night – Vertical Die-namics.

For the second card, I started with a patterned paper from the Candy Land Paper Pack. I applied some baby powder to it before adhering the stencil and then I used a sponge dauber to apply Versamark ink to the trees. I heat embossed the ink with clear embossing powder and used Black Soot Distress Ink to darken the panel. It was impossible to cover the polka dot pattern completely, but I like the effect.

I created the same sentiment for the second card, except that I used Black Licorice Prestige Card Stock for the skinny strip. That’s it for today, but I’ll be back tomorrow for the last Countdown Day before the release. As always, I now urge you to visit the MFT Blog and if you came from there, thank you very much!
